Last 16 - Matchday 4

Brazil vs Chile 2-1 a.e.t. (1-0 ht / 1-1 ft)

Brazil were cautious before their game against Chile - and they had every reason to be so, since Chile proved to be a tough opponent - holding out against the South Americans until the very end of the 90 minutes.

With Kaka in the starting line-up, the Brazilians had their ammunition in place but two cannons -Luis Fabiano and Robinho - were somewhat off-target. Luis Fabiano scored the only goal of the first half after a fast move originated by Kaka. Chile went right back in the game in the second half and finally managed to score one goal through Gonzalez. The incisive CSKA Moscow forward scored with a well placed shot from the edge of the box.

Seeing the game run into extra time is not what Brazil had expected. Dunga's team gathered what was left of their strength and scored the winning goal in the 103rd minute, setting themselves up for a quarter-final against The Netherlands in which they're likely to be less fresh than the Dutch.
