Group H - Matchday 3

Chile vs. Spain 0-2(0-0)

Switzerland vs. Honduras 1-0(1-0)

Chile, Spain and Switzerland had still chances to win group H on goal difference before matcday 3 and Honduras still hoped to qualify. Chile was confident of securing the next stage, but standing in their way, however, are Group H rivals Spain, who bounced back from their opening reverse against Switzerland and will likely need all three points against the Chileans to reach the next phase. Spain was confident after they won six and drawn one of their seven meetings with Chile and made no mistakes in this game also. They assured first place of the group through David Villa's top goals from the second half.

The Swiss lost 1-0 from Chile in the second group game, and now they needed to beat bottom-placed Honduras and await the result of Chile vs. Spain to learn their fate. They did their job defeating Honduras with 1-0 after a goal scored by Barnetta in the first half, but it wasn't enough to go through. Spain won this group and in second came Chile to represent group H for the last 16.
