Group F - Matchday 1

New Zealand vs. Slovakia 0-3 (0-1)

New Zealand hass returned to the World Cup Stage for the first time since its debut appearance in 1982. Slovakia has its first international tournament as an independent nation. These two teams were considered outsiders in Group F along Italy, the world champions, and the more experienced south americans. But today, they had a very good chance in taking the lead of this group after Matchday 1. The All Whites were confident about this game looking back on a recent 1 - 0 win over Serbia, but it wasn't enough. The All Whites just couldn't resist players like Martin Skrtel, Stanislav Sestak, Marek Hamsik, players from the european top championships. The Slovaks took the lead in the first half after a great race of midfilder Hamsik, finished in a great goal by striker Sestak. In the second half nothing changed and the slovaks prooved they can be a real threat for the favourites of this group. Jan Kozak, Poli Timisoara's midfielder gave an advantage of 2-0 for the slovaks after a good strike from 20 m, and in the end, Sestak made the double, after a great combination with young Miroslav Stoch, winner of the Dutch championship with Twente Enschede.

MoM: Stanislav Sestak
