No it's not final day, it's just one of the shock encounters taking place far too early in the tournament. What were the odds for each team to progress? 50% each, specialists would say. This is what actually happened: both teams started with cautioness, waiting for the right moment to push forward. It was Germany who finally managed to get one in, after a seires of mistakes by the English defensive midfielders. Muller was the scorer and 1-0 was the score at half time.
England came back in the second half with a much more offensive approach, but still nothing changed on the scoreboard. Moreover Podolski doubled Germany's advantage with 10 minutes to go.
