JAPAN vs. CAMEROON 0-1 (0-0)
Japan, winners of three of the last five editions of the AFC Asian Cup and Cameroon, most succesfull African team in the World Cup’s history, met in the second group E game. Takeshi Okada said that Japan’s main target at this World Cup is to reach the semi – finals, even though they lost the last four friendly matches before the start of the competition. The Lions had a good start, but the first half ended in a white draw. Nothing else to remember from this game, only the shot from short range of striker’s Samuel Eto’o which gave the africam team the 1-0 advantage. That was it for matchday 1 of this group and it looks like the favourites confirmed in their first matches.
