The first half was rather poor in goal chances, except the injury of Annan which looked initially more serious than it turned out to be. Australia started the game without star player Cahill, but his absence wasn't felt since Kewell had an impressive second half, scoring his side's only goal after a good low cross by Bresciano. Ghana pushed throughout the whole game and finally equalised in the 65th minute when Ayew sent the ball past Schwarzer after dribbling past two defenders. It was an action-packed game in this complicated group, with Ghana having superior ball possession and looking more likely to win, but having to settle for a draw after all.
